‘Hundreds and thousands of years ago, at the beginning of the world, there was very little for human beings to eat. Although there were trees, there was no fruit, and people had to live off roots and berries – and the roots were often bitter, and the berries sour…’
So begins The story of how fruit came into the world, a Tree of Life story set in the Amazon rainforest.
This story encourages the listeners to treat nature with respect and teaches how seeds spread and plant themselves in rainforest floods. The main character is called Agouti after a small furry creature that walks or runs long distances.
You can listen to the story here on the Story Museum website, in a version told by Adele Moss.
